RULES HELP

FAQ & Clarifications

These clarifications cover the most common questions that come up during early playtesting. The full rulebook remains the primary reference.

Is the Paragon part of the deck?

No. The Paragon exists outside the deck in the Paragon Zone. It is not shuffled into the deck and does not count toward deck construction limits.

What is the difference between Master, Apex, and Paragon?

The Master is your persistent identity creature. The Apex is your single high-tier deck centerpiece. The Paragon is your once-per-game external endgame finisher.

Can V, GX, ex, and EX cards be used freely?

No. These cards may only exist as the designated Apex under the current format structure.

Can Paragons be Mega, VMAX, or VSTAR?

Yes. Under v6.7, Paragons may only be Mega, VMAX, or VSTAR style finishers.

Can I switch or retreat after an attack is declared?

No. Once an attack is declared and combat is committed, the defending Pokémon cannot retreat, switch, or move until combat resolves.

Do Item cards work on other players' turns?

Yes. Items are treated as instant-speed interaction and may be used during legal response windows.

Do Supporters and Stadiums work like Items?

No. Supporters, Stadiums, and non-Item support cards are sorcery-speed and may only be played during your Main Phase.

How does Healing Echo work?

When an Item or Support card heals one of your Pokémon, you heal Player Life equal to 50% of the HP restored, rounded down, capped at 50 Player Life per turn.

Do Pokémon attacks or Abilities trigger Healing Echo?

No. Healing caused by Pokémon attacks, Abilities, or passive effects does not trigger Healing Echo.

How do Stadiums work?

Only one Stadium can be in play at a time. Stadiums remain until replaced or removed by a card effect. Playing a Stadium does not count toward Support action limits.

What happens when my Active Pokémon is Knocked Out?

You must immediately choose a Benched Pokémon you control and move it to the Active Spot if able, regardless of whose turn it is.

When do I lose from Field Break?

If you have no Active Pokémon, no Benched Pokémon, and cannot immediately place one into the Active Spot at the start of your turn, you lose by Field Break.

Can I release a Pokémon from my Bench?

Yes. If your Bench is full, you may release a Benched Pokémon during your Main Phase. Released Pokémon enter the Lost Zone and cannot be recovered.

Do all Pokémon use type weakness and resistance?

Use what is printed on the card unless the format rules or pod rulings say otherwise. This remains an active clarification area during alpha testing.
